From December 1, 2024, to May 31, 2025, with the support of People in Need, Nwe Organization is implementing the Strengthening Resilience Among Vulnerable Communities of Kurdistan Region of Iraq Facing Waste Management and Climate Change Challenges project. This initiative focuses on promoting environmental sustainability through art and community engagement in Khurmal by empowering art teachers and students to address waste management and climate change challenges.
Project Activities:
Capacity-Building Training for Art Teachers: Ten art teachers from 10 basic schools will receive training on the role of art in environmental protection.
Formation of Environmental Groups: The 10 art teachers will establish student groups in their schools, with each group consisting of 7 students. These groups will upcycle plastic and other waste materials into creative projects.
School Cleanup Campaign: In the fifth month of the project, a campaign will be conducted to clean the surroundings of participating schools.
Final Exhibition: In the last month, an exhibition will be held to showcase the upcycled products created by the student groups.
